MGTO Signs Memorandum of Co-operation with China Film Producers’ Association

The Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, together with the Head of the Tourism Product and Events Department of MGTO, Jennifer Si Tou, the Deputy Secretary General and Chief Financial Officer of the Organizing Committee of the International Film Festival & Awards.Macao (IFFAM), Lei Sou Ian, and other delegates successively met with the China International Culture Communication Centre and the China Film Producers' Association in Beijing on 24th July to introduce the latest progress of co-ordination for the upcoming edition of IFFAM.

During their meeting, MGTO and the China Film Producers' Association signed a Memorandum of Co-operation for IFFAM, unveiling a collaborative programme effective for three years. The scope of co-operation includes: the Association becoming a supporting entity of IFFAM, which will recommend influential Mainland film celebrities to join the local Film Festival. In addition, both parties will mutually recommend remarkable films and undertake collaborative endeavours to promote exchange and co-operation with international filmmakers whilst nurturing the next generation of film talent.

Prior to the memorandum being signed, the MGTO delegation met with the Chairman of the China Film Producers' Association, Ming Zhenjiang, plus Jury President of 3rd IFFAM and film director Chen Kaige to exchange perspectives on the progress of preparations for the 3rd IFFAM.

Earlier in March this year, MGTO had already signed another Memorandum of Co-operation, this time with the China International Culture Communication Centre (CICCC). The memorandum aims to equip IFFAM with quality resources and platforms for cultural dissemination, help propagate traditional Chinese culture across the world and enhance Macao's tourism development via the enhancer of culture.

In their visit to Beijing, MGTO Director Senna Fernandes and her team also met with Long Yuxiang, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Executive Chairman of CICCC, in order to share the latest preparations for IFFAM.

During the meeting, CICCC Executive Chairman Long expressed his recognition of the role of IFFAM as a cultural exchange platform between East and West, and indicated the continuous support of the Centre for the work of the IFFAM Organizing Committee. As President of the IFFAM Organizing Committee, MGTO Director Senna Fernandes expressed her belief in the vast potential of IFFAM to grow and reach new milestones in its third edition.

She said she looks forward to infusing the Film Festival with new elements by partnering prominent filmmakers from different countries and regions, while being inspired by their experiences to make IFFAM an extraordinary event. The Office will also make an incessant effort to enrich the diversity of local tourism products in line with the vision of building Macao into a world centre of tourism and leisure.
