On World Tourism Day - 27th September - Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched its Gastronomy Map website, encouraging visitors to learn more about Macao's diverse cuisine and discover some of its hidden gems while strolling around lesser known districts of the city.

Resulting from a co-operation between MGTO and two local food bloggers - Memo Foodie and 3mouth8stomach - the Gastronomy Map shares the bloggers' food journeys around Macao, inside stories about various dishes and eateries plus recommendations for food, assorted dessert delights, beverages, snacks and nearby tourism attractions. It also links to MGTO's Star Merchants awarded restaurants and eateries from the Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme.

The Gastronomy Map was conceived based upon the long term project launched by MGTO known as 'Step Out, Experience Macao's Communities' walking tour routes via which visitors can get to know the city, especially lesser visited areas, helping divert visitor flow in the process and thus channelling the benefits of tourism to diverse districts of Macao. The website will be further developed and synchronised to the routes in the near future.
