MGTO Introduces 2015 Promotional Activities to Local Trade Partners

Some 150 local trade partners learned about MGTO’s plan in 2015

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) held a briefing on 28th November for local trade partners to present next year’s marketing promotion activities, attracting some 150 participants. Chaired by Director of MGTO Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, MGTO’s Destination Marketing Department together with its Tourism Product and Events Department introduced a comprehensive gamut of events and activities to be rolled out in 2015 both locally and at international level.

The Office will primarily focus on three categories for its 2015 marketing promotion activities, including Tourism Products, Leisure Travel and Events, reflecting new priorities in the shifting economy and travel patterns of the region and the world. Tourism Products will pertain to the continuation of the projects of Community Tourism, Awareness Campaign, Cultural Tourism, and the Product Incentive Scheme. MGTO also built Leisure Travel into its plans and invited travel trade partners to join its calendar of travel fairs (both leisure and business tourism), product updates and mini-marts, mega events, diversified promotions, consumer events, MGTO Marketing Meetings plus a potential market to explore – the United Arab Emirates. The rich calendar of events and festivities for 2015 opens with the Chinese New Year’s fireworks and parade that acts as a magnet for visitors who are guaranteed a whole host of activities in the territory that tap into the roots of Chinese culture. The Year of the Goat (Sheep) starts on 19th February.

MGTO’s Short Haul Strategy will focus on travel packages, while Long Haul Strategy will focus on food promotion – particularly Macanese cuisine – as the territory goes from strength to strength in this category in terms of diversity of product, number of outlets, increasing international recognition and celebrity endorsement. Cultural promotion will also come to the fore in a variety of aspects, with fashion and film emerging, along with art and increased promotion of the Historic Centre of Macau via various events and activities.
