2015 MGTO Annual Marketing Meeting

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) held its Annual Marketing Meeting (AMM) 2015 in Macau from 15th to 19th June, at which time MGTO's 56 global market representatives assembled in Macau to report on their achievements and discuss future marketing strategies. The Office also met with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) on 19th June to discuss opportunities of enhancing co-operation and promoting multi-destination tours.

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis, Tam Chon Weng presided over a Tourism representatives abroad working meeting on 17th June, to hear the Macau Tourist Office overseas representatives from around the world report on their plans and promotion strategies.

At the meeting, Alexis Tam said that the country's 'One Belt, One Road' places Macau in a strategy on the Maritime Silk Road, an opportunity which representatives must seize to build a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. Meanwhile, he hoped delegates must act as ambassadors of Macau to promote the city's attractions and advantages, increasing the number of international tourists to Macau, so that the overall tourism industry could develop well.

On the first day of the Annual Marketing Meeting, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes updated participants on Macau's latest tourism trends in tandem with the line-up of events planned for the second half of the year plus important breaking projects. During the meeting, representatives evaluated the results of their work over the past year, reporting their current work progress and potential plans for next year.

In addition, more attention was paid to online ordering of travel products and services, highlighting the use of online booking platform for every function, to ensure more convenience for tourists. During their stay, local travel trade partners took the opportunity to introduce their upcoming projects, while market representatives embarked upon site inspections of the newest tourism spots and facilities in order to better promote the increasingly diverse tourism products of Macau.
