43 Hotel Projects Under Construction or Planning Stage in Q1

43 hotel projects in the pipeline will provide 25,600 hotel rooms

Data from the Bureau of Land, Public Works and Transport refering to the first quarter of the year, shows that 43 hotel projects are in the pipeline, with 18 under construction and 25 in the planning state. All together, the projects are calculated to provide approximately 25,600 rooms to Macau in the future.

Of the 18 projects currently under construction, it is estimated that the hotels can provide an extra 9,800 rooms, a 65 per cent increase compared to last year's data. Ten projects are progressing on the Macau Peninsula, providing 1,000 rooms, with five projects providing 7,500 rooms in Cotai, two projects providing 1,000 rooms in Taipa and one project providing 200 rooms in Coloane.

The 18 projects occupy some 9,410,000 square metres, increasing 42 per cent compared to last year.

Furthermore, 25 projects are currently in the planning stage, which can provide 15,700 rooms. The 18 planned projects on the Macau Peninsula will provide 3,100 rooms, while the planned projects in Taipa will provide 120 rooms. The five planned projects in Cotai will add 12,000 rooms, while the single planned project in Coloane will provide 450 guestrooms.
