V-Air Grounding Macau operations this month

V-Air has grounded its Macau route three months after launch

Taiwan low-cost airline, V-Air has announced that the airline would cancel the route after 10th July. After inaugurating the Taipei-Macau route on 10th April, V-Air operated three flights a week, with the airline's representative saying he hoped to increase this to one flight a day in June. However, having flown this route for three months V-Air has announced that the airline would cancel the route in July.

Senior marketing manager Tang Duntai said that after launching the airline the average passenger capacity was only around 40 per cent in April and 50 per cent in May. Due to fierce competition, the company plans to adjust its development strategy. It will add one more airplane on 1st June and increase the routes between Taoyuan and Bangkok in July. At the same time, it would apply to fly to Japan and Korea. For the Macau routes, he said the company needs to investigate the market further to decide whether it should resume service or not.

For those who had bookings after 10th July, Tang Duntai said that these passengers could choose to take the flights at any time unconditionally or apply for refund. Customers paying by credit card would be refunded, too.
