Traffic Measures Implemented for Ruins of St. Paul’s Tourism Area and Border Gate Arrival Hall

Estrada do Cemitério will officially partition visitor channels during peak hours

In order to initiate traffic calming measures around the Ruins of St. Paul's tourism area and Border Gate Arrival Hall the Public Security Police Force (PSPF) has officially implemented a ringfencing policy by assigning officers to Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro and Estrada do Cemitério at peak hours to direct temporary diversions. The Border Gate Arrival Hall officially implemented partition management on 3rd August, with Macau residents' inbound area being moved to the right-hand side of the lobby.

PSPF said that the Ruins of St. Paul's supports the arrival of a large number of tourists every day, many of whom, in addition to buses, pass Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro and Estrada do Cemitério, the only roads to the Ruins of St. Paul's. The Transportation division of the PSPF have undertaken to initiate proper measures to ease heavy traffic conditions and distribute the latest information on traffic via mobile apps, among other channels. PSPF will also co-operate with the Transport Bureau, MGTO and other bureaus to monitor traffic in the heavily congested tourist area of Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro.

Following two months of testing, the Border Gate Arrival Hall has already adjusted the channels for Macau residents, meaning cross-border students will no longer be permitted to crowd the lobby entrance. The new arrangement also avoids overlapping foreign employees and visitors. The left-hand side of the lobby is now designated for visitors and foreign employees, with the number of channels increasing from 43 to 50.
