The 17th edition of The Venetian Macao Open, co-organized by Macau Sport Development Board and Macau Golf & Country Club, with The Venetian Macao as its title sposor has become one of the highlights of the Professional Golf Asia Tour. To further enhance its attractiveness, this tournament will start in advance on 15th to 18th October in Macau Golf & Country Club in Coloane.

Prize money this year will reach a magical US$1 million, an increase of US$100,000 on last year. In all, 124 top players from the PGA Tour, four selected players from Macau Golf & Country Club, and 16 players invited by the sponsors will compete for the huge prize money and championship honours. Last year, Anirban Lahiri ranked top on the PGA Tour order of merit and returns to this tournament to defend his championship. In addition, this tournament will adopt 'Macau's Unique' as its slogan and include a series of live entertainment programmes in order to enhance the atmosphere.

Since 1998, many top-draw golfers have competed on the narrow rolling greens overlooking the sea including Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Nick Faldo, Scott Hend, Padraig Harrington, Fred Couples, Mark O'Meara, Ian Woosnam, and Zhang Lian-wei.
