Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) - together with Zhongshan Tourism Bureau and Zhuhai Culture Sports and Tourism Bureau - led representatives from the tourism industry of the three locations to participate in joint tourism presentation seminars in Jinan, Shandong, and Quanzhou, Fujian on 14th and 16th May, respectively, under the theme of 'Fragrant Hill of the Past; Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao Today' to promote multi-destination tourism and other tourism routes with local characteristics.

Zhang Jun of Zhuhai Culture Sports and Tourism Bureau - the Rotating Chairman of the Tourism Alliance of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao designated for the term of 2018 - along with the Tourism Development Council Leaders of Jinan and Quanzhou, addressed participants in both seminars.

Later, representatives from the tourism industry and tourism departments of the three locations presented the tourism attractions of their locations, and routes for multi-destination tours, to enable representatives from Shandong and Fujian to have the latest information on tourism in Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao. During the seminar, representatives of Galaxy Macau and Shun Tak - China Travel Ship Management Limited presented their tourism products to participants.

Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao have formed a tourism alliance to conduct joint marketing initiatives under the motto of 'Fragrant Hill of the Past; Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao Today' since 2006, with the objective of enticing more sightseers from the Mainland and abroad to visit Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao on one trip, thus branding the Pearl River Delta Region as one travel destination. As part of the promotion strategy, the three tourism bureaus not only designed routes for multi-destination tours but also published a food guide in Chinese and English.

MGTO wishes to capitalize on the new possibilities opened up by the Bay Area development as well as the Belt and Road initiative to better integrate the tourism resources of the three cities and magnify their strengths as a regional tourism brand.

Multi-destination tours

With the close relationship between Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao, visitors can experience the unique characteristics of three locations on one trip. Suggested multi-destination tours for five days and four nights include the Tourism Area of Sun Yat-Sen's Hometown (rated in China as a AAAAA Class scenic area) in Zhongshan, or relaxing in Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort in Zhuhai. Remembering, of course, to savour Zhongzhan's famous squid dish as well as almond cakes from the widely renowned Rua do Cunha, in Macao, and taking in UNESCO's World Heritage-listed 'Historic Centre of Macao', among many other sites in the three cities.
