MGTO Promotional Activities in August

The second half of 2018 promises to be abuzz with dazzling festivals and major events, with Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participating in and organising a packed schedule of promotional activities in Malaysia, the United States, the Taiwan region, and Hong Kong (in chronological order), enabling visitors to savour the glamour of Macao's megahit festivals and events.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will participate in multiple events in that country this month. From 3rd to 5th August MGTO Malaysia will participate in the Malaysia International Travel Mart (MITM) Fair in Kuala Lumpur to promote Macao and related multi-destination travel products, events and festivals, particularly gastronomy in Macao via interactive events and travel packages on display at the Fair.

From 31st August to 2nd September, MGTO Malaysia will participate in Taste MIGF, the preview event for the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival in Kuala Lumpur haling Macao's designation as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and 2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy, as well as promoting wall-to-wall events and festivals unfolding in the city from September to December.

Meanwhile, from 31st August to 5th September, MGTO Malaysia will invite well-known Malaysian blogger Valyn and CITYPlus FM's Radio DJ Emily to Macao to experience the local culture and share it with their followers and listeners. In particular, they will highlight Macao's shopping, museums, gastronomic delights, landscape, and 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest. During the trip, they will broadcast a live segment via their social media platform plus a CITYPlus FM travel piece to share their travel experiences.

United States

Virtuoso Travel Week, organised by the world's largest luxury travel network Virtuoso, has attracted 5200 participants - comprising agency owners, managers, consultants and travel specialists who meet annually with preferred suppliers and tourism boards within the network.

Consequently, MGTO USA will attend Virtuoso Travel Week from 12th to 17th August to connect with elite, top performing travel advisors in order to introduce the latest developments in Macao's tourism portfolio and related products. From 13th to 17th August, MGTO USA will host a familiarization trip with three chefs from three separate top-tier restaurants in the United States, who will learn all about Macanese cuisine, from its unique techniques to its distinct flavours. Upon their return from the United States, the chefs will continue to work with MGTO USA on further promotional activities.

Taiwan region

The MGTO PR Consultant for the Taiwan region will attend two sessions of the Taiwan International Tourism Expo, held from 17th to 20th August in Taichung and 24th to 27th August in Taipei, as well as the Cheng Kung International Travel Fair from 31st August to 3rd September, while supporting Taiwan regiontravel agencies in their marketing of Macao travel products.

Hong Kong

MGTO Hong Kong will participate in a Dinner and Presentation for Hotel Concierges and Front Office Managers on 24th August at Kerry Hotel Hong Kong, reaffirming the connection with hotel frontline practitioners, giving them updated information on Macao's new attractions and its latest developments.

On 30th and 31st August, a familiarization trip will be organised for Hong Kong incentive agents to visit new hotel establishments, as well as the opportunity to taste Macao's local snacks and experience a Portuguese Tart Cooking Workshop. This tour serves as the perfect opportunity to promote Macao as an ideal incentive destination and Creative City of Gastronomy.
