Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements Introduced to Cope with Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro Construction Project

In order to co-ordinate with the Macao SAR Government Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau's (IACM) improvement of drainage system and road resurfacing works Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro traffic flow has been changed to one-way traffic from 14th July to 31st August, with vehicles only allowed to travel in the direction of Ponte 16 from BNU's Head Office Branch.

Rua de Miguel Aires, Rua das Estalagens, Rua de Camilo Pessanha, and a street between Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro and Rua das Estalagens will be temporarily used as counterflow lanes. Beco do Gonçalo, Rua de Constantino Brito between Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos and Rua Nova do Comércio, a stretch of Rua Nova do Comércio and Rua do Guimarães between Rua de Constantino Brito and Avenida de Almeida Ribeir plus a stretch of Rua Central between Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro and Rua do Padre Luís Fróis S.J. will be temporary suspended for traffic. Vehicles exceeding 8 metres in length are prohibited from entering Rua de Miguel Aires from Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos.

During the construction period a number of bus routes have been adjusted - namely, 2, 3, 3A, 3X, 5, 6A, 10, 10A, 11, 18, 21A, 26A, 33, N1B and N3. Some bus stops have been temporary suspended on Almeida Ribeiro/Tai Fung, Almeida Ribeiro/Rua Camilo Pessanha, Rua dos Mercadores, Rua das Estalagens and Rua de Cinco de Outubro, while Praia Grande/Si Toi has been moved 100 metres in the direction of Jardim de S. Francisco.

Meanwhile, new free bus route 88T travels between Macau Tower/Tunnel (Terminal) to Barra/Terminal, Alm. Sérgio/Riviera Macau, Alm. Sergio/Trav. Lido, Praça Ponte Horta, Alm. Sérgio/Mercado, Alm. Sérgio/Praia Manduco, A-Ma Temple and Macau Tower/Tunnel (Terminal).

Paid bus route 26AT departs from Rua Norte do Patane/Bacia Norte do Patane, then follows the route of 26A to Av. Alm. Lacerda/Ouvidor Arriaga, and on to Av. Infante D. Henrique via Av. Horta e Costa before following 26A's original route to Taipa.

The Macao SAR Government Transport Bureau (DSAT) reminds the public to pay close attention to new traffic arrangements, suggesting travelling to Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro area by public transportation or by walking. The public can also gain access to the latest traffic conditions via the DSAT website: www.dsat.gov.mo, Traffic Information Station mobile application, Bus Travel System mobile application and notices posted at bus stops.
