The Macao SAR Government Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) launched a public consultation - the second phase of the 'Safeguard and Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Macao' - in early 2018, with the final report announced at the end of June.

IC conducted 4 public consultations and 6 discussion sessions during the public consultation period spanning 20th January to 20th March, with around 300 people participating and 1790 submissions and 2050 opinions received. Based upon these, the visual corridor, the 'centrepiece' of the discussion, accounted for 50 per cent of total received opinions, underscoring that it is of primary concern to the population.

Other received opinions and suggestions apropos 'Added new visual corridor from Penha Hill to Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho (Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge)'; 'Added new visual corridor from Penha Hill to New Urban Zone B'; and 'Define the maximum altimetric limits of buildings within the visual corridor' received the greatest attention and discussion.

IC will commence a detailed study and analysis of the views received upon completion of the public consultation in order to refine the content of the 'Safeguard and Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Macao', further consolidating legislative work on related issues.
