In its recent Annual General Assembly Ordinary Meeting, Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) announced that the Passenger Terminal Building South Extension of Macau International Airport (MIA) will be fully operational in 2019 upon completion of the airside corridor to be built to the south of the terminal building. The total capacity of the terminal building will be increased to 10 million passengers per year, with all airport security facilities upgraded to ensure user safety in a comfortable environment.

The MIA Zhongshan Service Centre was officially opened in March; meanwhile, the Check-in Service Centre at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao (HKZM) Bridge is currently under decoration and expected to be launched in Q2 2019; the Service Centres in Jiangmen and Guangzhou are next in line for operation. All Service Centres are equipped with an ‘Express Link’ service to MIA, with the seamless connection providing convenient travel services to passengers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area via a more extensive transportation chain.

CAM also reported that in Q1 2019 (until 28th March) MIA passenger volume and aircraft movements both represented a year-on-year increase of 16 per cent. Considering the surrounding environment and industry changes it is expected that the number of passengers will reach 8.7 million in 2019, with cargo volume reaching around 43000 tonnes, and aircraft movements exceeding 69000. Business jet movements will reach 3438.
