MGTO Attends PATA Annual Summit 2019 in Cebu

Hosted by the Department of Tourism of the Philippines, PATA Annual Summit 2019 was held in Cebu City in the Philippines from 9th to 12th May, attracting 383 delegates representing 194 entities from 43 countries and regions across Asia Pacific.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) attended the Summit. The four-day event featured a series of panel sessions, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)/PATA Leaders Debate, PATA Annual General Meeting and PATA Youth Symposium among other meetings and activities.

PATA Annual Summit 2019 convened under the theme ‘Progress with a Purpose,’ with eminent industry leaders invited to deliver speeches and shed light on the topics concerned. As PATA Secretary/Treasurer, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes participated in a series of meetings including the PATA Executive Board Meeting, PATA Board Meeting and PATA Annual General Meeting. The Association elected the Chairman and Vice Chairman for the next term on 12th May, with Chris Bottrill re-elected Chairman of PATA, while Soon-Hwa Wong assumed the position of Vice Chairman.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association is a significant platform for Macao to connect with the global travel trade and raise its destination profile throughout the world. MGTO hence actively engages in PATA affairs, expressing continuous support, among other initiatives, via its sponsorship of the PATA Gold Awards. The Association bestows a range of annual awards commending outstanding practitioners and nurtures industry professionals in the field of tourism.
