Full field set to race 2020 Macao International Marathon

The 2020 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon takes place on 6 December

Training is over and the field is set – the 2020 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon is about to be run and won. The event on 6 December received an overwhelming response from participants, filling the 12,000-strong quota for the marathon, half-marathon and mini-marathon as early as September.

The 6,200 competitors in the marathon and half-marathon will run a spectacular course that includes passing Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, the World Heritage-listed A-Ma Temple, and the Sai Van Bridge.

Each of the categories starts and finishes inside the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. The marathon and half-marathon are scheduled to start at 6 a.m., with the mini-marathon race beginning at 6:15 a.m.

The 39th edition of the marathon is jointly organised by the Macao SAR Government Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau. The title sponsor for the 17th consecutive year is the Galaxy Entertainment Group.

To deliver the safest possible conditions for the participants, the marathon’s Organising Committee has adopted measures that meet the Macao SAR Government Health Bureau guidelines to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks. According to the regulations, all participants must present a nucleic acid test certificate with a negative result for COVID-19 in order to be allowed to compete.
