Renowned gourmet awards event Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants will be unveiled in Macao on 26th March, with top Asian chefs, leading figures from the F&B industry, and representatives of the international media gathering in the city to witness the announcement of the 2019 results. Hosted with the support of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards Ceremony will be held in Macao for the second consecutive year in a nod to the destination’s elevation to UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 awards presentation ceremony will be held at Wynn Palace in a gala event on 26th March. Together with the unveiling of the 50 Best Restaurants 2019 list several special awards will be presented on that evening to honour the ‘best of the best’ chefs in several categories.

Also comprising part of the packed programme, 50 Best Talks on 25th March at Wynn Macau will facilitate the exchange of big ideas on sustainability, sourcing, over-consumption and other current issues facing the industry, with cooking demonstrations and the sharing of chefs’ stories included under the theme of ‘Vital Ingredients’. Participating chefs and restaurateurs from across Asia will also have the opportunity to network on various occasions and experience Macao’s gastronomic culture and more, namely with a Chefs Feast at the idyllic location of Pousada de Coloane among others.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list - the regional version of the world list, published by William Reed Business Media since 2013 - is selected each year by a 300-member Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy whose members include food critics, chefs, restaurant owners and gourmands in Asia’s restaurant scene. Members base their decisions upon their dining experiences of the past 18 months to list their favourite restaurants. Each year, the list demonstrates the foresight of experts in the field and identifies important trends in F&B.

Last year, when Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants was first held in Macao one of its crowning successes was attracting the highest number of attendees in the event’s history. Prior to Macao, the awards presentation ceremony had been held in Singapore and Bangkok for three and two years, respectively.

Since the launch of the Asian regional version of 50 Best in 2013, Macao has had one restaurant in the final list each year (Robuchon au Dôme), while in 2017 two more restaurants were awarded (Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room), with one restaurant (Jade Dragon) making the list in 2018.
