The 18th Lusofonia Festival - a Portuguese-speaking Communities Cultural Festival to be held in the environs of Taipa Houses-Museum from 23rd to 25th October - will feature a cornucopia of activities designed to appeal to families and youngsters from far and wide.

Lakeside booths, manned by members of ten different Portuguese-speaking communities, will showcase the cultural and gastronomic delights of Macau, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Goa, Daman and Diu, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Principe, and East Timor, while live music performances in the open-air amphitheatre by groups from these Portuguese-speaking countries and regions are an important element of the annual Festival and invariably draw large appreciative, often dancing, crowds.

The first Lusofonia Festival was held in 1998 on Portugal and Portuguese Expatriate Day (10th June) in acknowledgement of the Portuguese-speaking community residing in Macau and has grown in popularity every year since as it is an all-inclusive event that welcomes everybody from Macau and abroad. Festivities kick off on 23rd October from 7:00pm with a brief inaugural ceremony, while the action continues from midday to midnight at the weekend.
