Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) rolled out several large activities in the US, Germany and Australia in October to promote its international tourism market and attract international tourists to Macau.

Germany

The Macau 3D video mapping show 'Touching Moments' was displayed at the 11th Festival of Lights, which opened on 9th October and closed 18th October in Berlin. Portraying in an innovative way the cultural and tourism elements of Macau via its emblematic lotus flower, the five minutes-long illumination had a total of some 150 screenings for the ten nights of the Festival. The event attracted over two million visitors from Germany and around the world.

In tandem with the Macau video mapping presentation, MGTO held other high-impact promotional activities in Berlin to maximise the exposure gained during the popular Festival of Lights. A radio campaign about Macau ran in co-operation with German station Spreeradio, as well as a promotion in the city's cabs touring the streets of Berlin, lasting until the beginning of November, among other initiatives, to enhance the recognition of Macau and its multiple attractions as a tourism destination.

Australia

The MGTO Australia representative took up the major sponsorship of the 17th annual Sydney Night Noodles Market from 9th to 25th October with the special message 'Come to Macau and try what tantalising delights we have to serve'. This major event on the city's calendar attracted around 340,000 visitors to a record 50 food stalls across Hyde Park with Macau the exclusive international tourism body represented.

MGTO's primary role was to enlighten the crowd by showcasing the territory's many attributes on a pavilion fronted by a recreation of the Ruins of St Paul's. Delicious food, an information booth, and a major prize via a 'selfie' social media competition maintained interest at a high level, with the lucky winning entrant winning a trip with three pals to Macau for the 2015 Macau Grand Prix, to be held from 19th to 22nd November.

USA

MGTO staged a large-scale roadshow themed 'Experience Macau' in Grand Central Terminal, a famous landmark in New York City, from 1st to 4th October. The roadshow decorations were designed to highlight the beauty of Macau's attractions including the Ruins of St. Paul's, A-Ma Temple, Senado Square and Macau Tower. It presented Macau's gourmet delights, a stage performance, demonstration of Chinese silhouette paper-cutting, an art gallery, workshops, and a photo booth, showcasing Macau as a travel destination imbued with the blended cultures of East and West.

MGTO distributed promotional leaflets during the event while local travel agents promoted their special travel packages to Macau on the spot. Situated in Manhattan, Grand Central Station is an important transportation hub in New York City in addition to being a world-famous railway station that serves up to half a million commuters daily. Last year, Macau welcomed over 180,000 visitors from the United States, which ranked as the tenth largest source market for Macau.
