MGTO Promotional Activities in January

MGTO Hong Kong will send a Macao Food Truck to the “2020 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Carnival”

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) representatives are promoting Macao as a place to visit by getting out and about at events to mark Chinese New Year in Hong Kong, Malaysia and the United States (in chronological order), among other places.

Hong Kong

MGTO Hong Kong will send a Macao Food Truck to the “2020 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Carnival” to highlight the status of Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Macao Tourism Mascot MAK MAK will be on hand to offer souvenirs and snacks typical of Macao.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board is putting on the carnival in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong from 25 to 28 January to welcome in the Year of the Rat. The Chinese New Year’s Day celebrations there are being broadcast live to an audience of more than 1.5 million around the world.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia is taking its Chinese New Year roadshow, called “It’s All Here, Macao”, to the IOI City Mall in Putrajaya to show off what a friendly place Macao is, and the city’s range of attractions. The roadshow from 10 to 14 January 2020 highlights festival celebrations and other upcoming events this year. The travel agents taking part will offer attractive holiday packages, including tours that take visitors to Macao and other parts of the Pearl River Delta.

MGTO Malaysia representatives are also attending the annual dinner of the SME International Trade Association (SMITA) on 11 January to tell Malaysian businesspeople about Macao’s advantages as a place for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions. The representatives will be manning a booth and making a presentation to SMITA members, their commercial partners and Malaysian government officials.

United States

MGTO USA is a sponsor of the Cathay Pacific Chinese New Year Celebration on 22 January in Los Angeles. MGTO USA representatives plan to use the event as a platform to strengthen their business relationships with important contacts, including staff in the airline business and in the travel industry. On their programme is an interactive presentation about product updates to strengthen the position of Macao in the U.S. market for tourism.

MGTO USA forecasts about 120 guests will be at the celebration on behalf of leading travel agencies in prominent markets. Among their number are expected to be airline executives, travel managers or advisers, decision-makers and agents.
