Macao was recognised as China’s best city for leisure travel at the TTG China Travel Awards 2021, distinguishing itself as a destination that has risen above the competition and surpassed expectations. TTG China Travel Awards also contemplated several hotel resorts in Macao.
According to TTG China Travel Awards criteria, Macao won the award on the strength of being the “most friendly and desirable to leisure travellers”, and for travel agents and tour operators to organise tours. This is the second time Macao won the Best City in China (Leisure Travel). The city also won the award in 2020.
The TTG China Travel Awards 2021 were announced at the end of July and celebrated 30 winners among hotels, resorts and other service providers, including from several travel operators from Macao.
Other TTG China Travel Awards 2021 awards for Macao organisations went to: The St. Regis Macao for Best Luxury Hotel in Hong Kong/Macao; Grand Hyatt Macau for Best Business Hotel in Hong Kong/Macao; Holiday Inn Macau for Best Mid-range Hotel in Hong Kong/Macao; MGM Cotai for Best Meetings and Conventions Hotel in Hong Kong/Macao; and Sands Resorts Macao for Best Resort in China.
The awards ceremony and gala dinner, usually held in Shanghai during IT&CM China, was withhold this year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
All winners were selected through an industry-wide voting process spanning from May to June this year. Voters comprised of readers of TTG China, TTG-BTmice China, TTG Asia, TTG India, TTGmice, TTGassociations, and TTG Asia Luxury, as well as travel operators.
The TTG China Travel Awards have recognised the best of the Greater China’s travel industry since 2008. Widely considered important annual awards for the travel industry in Greater China, the prestigious annual event honours travel suppliers across airlines, hotels and resorts, serviced residences and travel services segments.
